We owe this session to über Los Angeles music scene writer Kevin Bronson (definitely bookmark his Buzzbands music blog), who highly recommended Kenan Bell during our last visit to LA. 

Kenan is a rapper, but this is not a turntable act.  The band plays actual instruments and can definitely rock out.  This is not hardcore rap to be sure, but the music itself has an edge to it that is distinct and refreshing.  The band had just scored a residency at Spaceland (Los Angeles) when we met, which is kind of amazing for a group that is just getting started (in fact, they are touring in Europe now as we speak, as well).
